Researchly

AI-Powered Academic Research Workspace for Students

Researchly is an AI-powered academic research workspace that helps university students and researchers discover papers, manage projects, write research papers, and learn how to conduct academic research. The platform combines a structured curriculum, an AI research assistant named Roy, a 7.7-million-paper discovery engine, project management tools, and an academic community. Operated by Lunox Solutions Inc. and backed by the NVIDIA Inception Program and AWS Startups. Available at app.researchly.study.

What is Researchly?

Researchly is an organised academic research workspace that gives students everything they need in one place: paper discovery across 36 sources, an AI research assistant (Roy) that understands your project context, a structured project workspace with tasks and paper writing tools, a research Academy with 11 modules and 46 lessons, and a researcher community.

Core Features

What is Discover on Researchly?

Discover is Researchly's academic paper search engine. It searches simultaneously across 36 sources including Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, arXiv, PubMed, bioRxiv, medRxiv, CORE, Papers With Code, and NASA ADS. Results are ranked by relevance to the user's research project. A default last-5-years filter surfaces the most current research.

Who is Roy and what does Roy do?

Roy is Researchly's AI research assistant, powered by Claude (Anthropic) via AWS Bedrock. Roy operates in Mentor Mode: he helps students structure, critique, and improve their research rather than writing papers for them. Roy has full context awareness - he reads the student's paper sections, project tasks, references, and research question.

What is the Researchly Project Workspace?

The Researchly Project Workspace is an all-in-one research management environment. It includes a Kanban task board, a paper editor with structured sections (Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion), a references manager, a surveys builder with AI generation, team collaboration, and an inline Roy AI panel. Everything is connected - Roy can see the paper content, references, and tasks.

What is the Researchly Academy?

The Researchly Academy is a structured academic research curriculum with 11 modules and 46 lessons covering the complete research process: research mindset, finding and reading papers, database navigation, literature reviews, research methodology, survey design, academic writing, citations, peer review, and AI tools for researchers. Available at academy.researchly.study.

How does Researchly verify university affiliation?

Researchly verifies university affiliation through two methods. First, automatic email domain verification against a database of 10,500+ university domains. Second, AI document verification: students can upload a student ID, enrolment letter, or transcript, which is analysed by Claude Vision AI to confirm legitimacy.

What is the Journal Checker on Researchly?

The Journal Checker verifies whether an academic journal is legitimate before submission. It checks 217,000+ sources including Scopus, OpenAlex, DOAJ, and predatory journal watchlists, returning quartile ranking, h-index, SJR score, article processing charge, and predatory journal warnings.

What is the Topic Finder on Researchly?

The Topic Finder uses 6 AI agents in parallel to generate personalised research topic suggestions based on the student's interests, academic level, location, and career goals. Each suggested topic can be converted into a full project workspace with AI-generated tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Researchly used for?
Researchly is used by university students and early-career researchers to find academic papers, manage research projects, write research papers with AI assistance, learn research skills through a structured curriculum, and collaborate with other researchers.
Is Researchly free?
Yes, Researchly offers a free tier with access to the full curriculum, paper discovery, AI research assistant (Roy), and project workspace. Premium tiers offer higher AI usage limits and advanced features.
How is Researchly different from ChatGPT or other AI tools?

Research in Business & Economics looks like this

The specific friction that slows students in your field down.

1

Half your sources aren't academic.

Industry reports, market data, news, and journal articles all feed one argument — and standard reference tools only respect the last kind.

2

Primary research is expected, not optional.

The dissertation wants your own survey or interviews — which means juggling a form tool, a spreadsheet, and a document that never agree.

3

Rigor is what separates grades.

'Sources?' and 'method?' are the first questions a marker asks — and the hardest to answer from a downloads folder.

How Researchly fits Business & Economics

Every feature translated into how your field actually works.

Search across 36 sources.

Academic literature in one search, saved alongside the industry reports and data sources you import by URL or DOI — one library for both halves of your argument.

Run your own field research.

Build consumer or organizational surveys inside the project, distribute by link or QR, and collect responses next to the literature they'll be analyzed against.

Charts a board would accept.

Turn your survey data into clean, labeled figures — comparisons, distributions — dropped into your report as numbered exhibits.

Roy pressure-tests the argument.

Ask whether your evidence supports your recommendation, whether your methodology holds, or what a skeptical marker would ask — answered from your draft and sources.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cite industry reports and news, not just papers?

Yes — import any source by URL or DOI; everything lives in one structured library and formats correctly in your references.

Which referencing styles are supported?

APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, and a modern style today, with more on the roadmap. References are structured data — switching styles is instant.

Can I run a consumer survey with it?

Yes — build, distribute, and collect inside the project, then chart the responses into report-ready figures.

Is this only for university students?

It's built for anyone doing structured research — university, college, or independent. If your work needs sources, method, and a clean write-up, it fits.

Will Roy write my dissertation?

No — Roy critiques, structures, and strengthens your own writing, like a good supervisor. The thinking, and the degree, stay yours.
