Researchly Features

Researchly is an AI-powered academic research workspace for university students and researchers. It combines paper discovery, project management, AI research assistance, and a learning curriculum in one platform.

Discover: Academic Paper Search Engine

Researchly Discover searches simultaneously across 36 academic sources. Sources include Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, arXiv, PubMed, bioRxiv, medRxiv, CORE, Papers With Code, HuggingFace, NASA ADS, ClinicalTrials.gov, Zenodo, CrossRef, FRED, World Bank, and more.

The search engine uses smart domain routing: biomedical queries trigger PubMed and bioRxiv; machine learning queries trigger arXiv, Papers With Code, and HuggingFace; astronomy queries trigger NASA ADS. Results are ranked by relevance to the user's project context, with citation count and recency signals. A default last-5-years filter surfaces current research. Users can filter by field, citation count, open access status, year range, and publication type.

Roy: AI Research Assistant

Roy is Researchly's AI research assistant. Roy operates in Mentor Mode - he helps students improve their own work rather than writing it for them. Roy has full context awareness: he can read the student's paper sections, project tasks, references, and research question without being told. Roy can review literature, give structural feedback on paper sections, suggest methodology improvements, and answer research questions grounded in the student's saved library.

Project Workspace

The Project Workspace is an all-in-one research management environment containing:

Researchly Academy

The Academy is a structured research curriculum with 11 modules and 46 lessons covering the complete academic research process. Modules include: Research Foundations, Finding a Research Topic, Academic Databases, Reading and Evaluating Papers, Literature Reviews, Research Methodology, Survey Design, Academic Writing, Citations, AI Tools for Researchers, and Publishing and Peer Review. Available at academy.researchly.study.

Topic Finder

The Topic Finder uses 6 AI agents running in parallel to generate personalised research topic suggestions. The Profile Agent, Literature Scout, Trend Watcher, Regional Priority Agent, Impact Assessor, and Synthesis Agent analyse the student's interests, academic level, location, and career goals to suggest research topics with gap scores and impact assessments.

Journal Checker

The Journal Checker verifies whether an academic journal is legitimate before submission. It checks 217,000+ sources including Scopus, OpenAlex, DOAJ, and predatory journal watchlists. Returns: quartile ranking (Q1-Q4), h-index, SJR score, article processing charge (APC), open access status, and predatory journal warnings.
