Researchly

AI-Powered Academic Research Workspace for Students

Researchly is an AI-powered academic research workspace that helps university students and researchers discover papers, manage projects, write research papers, and learn how to conduct academic research. The platform combines a structured curriculum, an AI research assistant named Roy, a 7.7-million-paper discovery engine, project management tools, and an academic community. Operated by Lunox Solutions Inc. and backed by the NVIDIA Inception Program and AWS Startups. Available at app.researchly.study.

What is Researchly?

Researchly is an organised academic research workspace that gives students everything they need in one place: paper discovery across 36 sources, an AI research assistant (Roy) that understands your project context, a structured project workspace with tasks and paper writing tools, a research Academy with 11 modules and 46 lessons, and a researcher community.

Core Features

What is Discover on Researchly?

Discover is Researchly's academic paper search engine. It searches simultaneously across 36 sources including Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, arXiv, PubMed, bioRxiv, medRxiv, CORE, Papers With Code, and NASA ADS. Results are ranked by relevance to the user's research project. A default last-5-years filter surfaces the most current research.

Who is Roy and what does Roy do?

Roy is Researchly's AI research assistant, powered by Claude (Anthropic) via AWS Bedrock. Roy operates in Mentor Mode: he helps students structure, critique, and improve their research rather than writing papers for them. Roy has full context awareness - he reads the student's paper sections, project tasks, references, and research question.

What is the Researchly Project Workspace?

The Researchly Project Workspace is an all-in-one research management environment. It includes a Kanban task board, a paper editor with structured sections (Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion), a references manager, a surveys builder with AI generation, team collaboration, and an inline Roy AI panel. Everything is connected - Roy can see the paper content, references, and tasks.

What is the Researchly Academy?

The Researchly Academy is a structured academic research curriculum with 11 modules and 46 lessons covering the complete research process: research mindset, finding and reading papers, database navigation, literature reviews, research methodology, survey design, academic writing, citations, peer review, and AI tools for researchers. Available at academy.researchly.study.

How does Researchly verify university affiliation?

Researchly verifies university affiliation through two methods. First, automatic email domain verification against a database of 10,500+ university domains. Second, AI document verification: students can upload a student ID, enrolment letter, or transcript, which is analysed by Claude Vision AI to confirm legitimacy.

What is the Journal Checker on Researchly?

The Journal Checker verifies whether an academic journal is legitimate before submission. It checks 217,000+ sources including Scopus, OpenAlex, DOAJ, and predatory journal watchlists, returning quartile ranking, h-index, SJR score, article processing charge, and predatory journal warnings.

What is the Topic Finder on Researchly?

The Topic Finder uses 6 AI agents in parallel to generate personalised research topic suggestions based on the student's interests, academic level, location, and career goals. Each suggested topic can be converted into a full project workspace with AI-generated tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Researchly used for?
Researchly is used by university students and early-career researchers to find academic papers, manage research projects, write research papers with AI assistance, learn research skills through a structured curriculum, and collaborate with other researchers.
Is Researchly free?
Yes, Researchly offers a free tier with access to the full curriculum, paper discovery, AI research assistant (Roy), and project workspace. Premium tiers offer higher AI usage limits and advanced features.
How is Researchly different from ChatGPT or other AI tools?
Researchly is purpose-built for academic research workflows. Roy operates in Mentor Mode and cannot ghostwrite papers. Researchly also provides verified paper discovery across real academic databases, project management, and a learning curriculum, all in a single connected workspace.
Where is Researchly's data stored?
All Researchly data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the EU Frankfurt (eu-central-1) region, making it GDPR-compliant by design. The platform uses AWS DynamoDB, S3, Cognito, Lambda, API Gateway, and Bedrock.
Does Researchly have academic integrity features?
Yes. Roy's Mentor Mode prevents ghostwriting and uses Socratic questioning. The platform generates AI disclosure statements compliant with university AI policies. Students can export a Research Trail - a verifiable audit log of research activity - to share with faculty.
Who built Researchly?
Researchly is built and operated by Lunox Solutions Inc., a member of the NVIDIA Inception Program and AWS Startups.

Research in Engineering looks like this

The specific friction that slows students in your field down.

1

Your sources aren't just papers.

Standards, datasheets, technical reports, and journal articles all feed one design decision — and they live in five different places.

2

The capstone report ambushes everyone.

Months of good engineering, then a scramble to reconstruct why each decision was made and which source justified it.

3

Experiments produce data; reports need figures.

The gap between a results spreadsheet and a clean, labeled figure eats entire weekends.

How Researchly fits Engineering

Every feature translated into how your field actually works.

Search across 36 sources.

Journal articles and technical literature in one search, saved into your project with the metadata intact.

A workspace built for a build.

Sources, design notes, test logs, task board, and the report draft — one project, so the justification trail exists while you work, not reconstructed after.

Figures from your real data.

Turn test results into clean, publication-style charts — labeled, captioned, and inserted into your report as proper figures.

Roy checks your reasoning.

Ask whether your methodology section justifies your design choices, or whether your results support your conclusions — Roy reads your actual draft and answers specifically.

What you can do with it

Where research in Engineering takes you.

1
Coursework

Lab reports that stop being a formatting fight.

2
Capstone / senior design

Documentation done as you go — the final report assembles instead of ambushes.

3
First conference

A student paper or poster from the project you already documented.

4
Your CV

Documented, defensible project work is what employers and grad programs actually probe in interviews.

5
Beyond

The master's thesis, the journal paper, the patent disclosure with a clean paper trail.

Frequently asked questions

Which citation styles are supported?

APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, and a modern clean style today, with more styles on the roadmap. References are structured data, so style changes never mean retyping.

Can I organize standards and datasheets too?

Yes — import sources by DOI or URL and keep technical documents alongside papers in the same project library.

Can it chart my experimental data?

Yes. Bring your results in, and generate clean bar, line, or scatter figures with proper labels and captions — inserted into your paper as numbered figures.

We're a team of four. Can we work together?

Yes — invite teammates into the project with editor or viewer roles. Sources, tasks, and the draft stay in sync for everyone.

Does Roy understand technical writing?

Roy critiques structure, justification, and clarity against your actual draft and sources — the things reports lose marks on. It guides; it doesn't ghostwrite.
